Richard asks…

Meditation for basketball?

I’ve been having trouble sleeping lately and I also play a lot of basketball and I heard that if you meditate it can help you sleep and it can help you to play better as an athlete. So how exactly do I meditate? And when and how much should I do it??

Binaural Beats answers:

DOooooo it! Sit in a chair with your palms open, put on a binaural beat, or ..here

Focus on your breathing. If you find you can’t stop thoughts, tell yourself you will ‘catch’ the next thought you have and it will create a gap in which you are not thinking. Essentially, practicing observation without thought.

There are also guided ones on youtube, but they kinda freak me out =p

20-30 minutes a day all it takes, and you will be relaxed, energized, and knock any anxiety out helping you sleep better.

Questions About Lucid Dreaming?

I know a bit about it, but what EXACTLY is it?

Ways I can train my mind to have lucid dreams more often?

Binaural Beats answers:

Lucid dreaming is where you realize your dreaming inside a dream, your brain is more conscience (awake) then it should be when your asleep. Lucid dreaming is at a high potential point is for instance in the middle of the day when your brain is meant to be fully awake and stimulated but your asleep. Sleeping at these times will help your chances of having a lucid dream but your need to realize in your dream that its a dream and the are a few tell tail signs eg. Light switches don’t work, small writing is hard to read, digital clocks seem to show fuzzy unreadable times of of course random arse shit happening like a dinosaur eating you. They say the best way to have lucid dreams is to write a journal every time u wake up of what u just dreamed. There’s other shit to help like herbs and watnot and also a little trick of staring at your sternum as u fall asleep and also listening to binaural beats as u fall asleep but binaural beats suck arse to listen to while falling asleep, but ive had a few lucid dreams which were extremely vivid while using these techniques. But the down side to having lucid dreams is that they increase the chances of having sleep paralysis when waking up and this is said to be one of the most terrifying things that has happened to people so yeah lol good luck!

Binaural Beats answers:

Try using brain waves programs such as Neuro Programmer and Brain waves generator. They generate binaural beat and isochronic tones and monaural tones that helps to bring your brain to the state of deep sleep or alertness. Such as alpha, beta, gamma, delta and theta brain waves of the mind.

Binaural Beats answers:

If you have never tried Binaural Beats for falling asleep I would definitely give them a shot. I found out about them because I couldn’t sleep at all and they have helped me so much! They are two tones played in headphones and they work like a turning fork to entrain your brain into a sleep state.
Here is a great binaural beat session for Sleeping on youtube:

I hope they help you as much as they have me!

Donna asks…

I feel lost and alone. Not sure where to turn.?

I’ve never had anything I considered to be a mental health issue, but recently I don’t know what to do with myself. I see no point in continuing, life itself just seems like a massive chore.
I have no motivation to get out of bed in the morning, and if it wasn’t for my parents yelling I probably wouldn’t. I just feel like I want to lie in bed and sleep all day. I feel tired constantly, and at night I toss and turn and take about an hour to get to sleep. I go into school and don’t feel like I can concentrate on anything, I have no purpose when trying to do coursework or when I’m in lessons.
My grades are suffering, and although I spend all my free time in school on subjects, nothing seems to be getting better because I have no focus at all when I get past the school gates.
I find it harder to talk to friends now than I did before, I feel very hollow all the time and it just feels like I can’t connect with anyone anymore, my friendships all feel like they’re falling apart.
Most girls my age also seem to have boyfriends, and I feel incredibly lonely, I’ve had some people take an interest in me but I’ve always pushed them away and now I just wander around feeling sorry for myself and like I’ll probably never be loved. My best friend of 9 years recently got into a relationship and has since forgotten about me.

I don’t know where to turn. I don’t know what to do. I can’t talk to my parents who have their own issues at the moment, I can’t talk to my friends because I don’t feel close to anyone anymore, I just feel completely alone in this massive daunting world. I don’t know whether to concentrate on rebuilding relationships or rebuilding my education; everything around me just seems to be in tatters.
If anyone has anything motivational, or has ever felt the same way, or just has something they could put that might help me out, please put it, I’m just stuck in this massive rut and I’m worries about what these feelings might turn to.

Binaural Beats answers:

Hey Emily. I feel that way everyday. I’m in therapy now. I do have disorders, a lot of them. So I’ll give you some advice that does help, even though I struggle with them myself. The first thing you need to do is congratulate yourself for wanting help. That’s the first step of getting healthy. The next thing you should try and do is congratulate yourself for doing things that are hard for you. Like when you get up, be proud you were able to get up, doesn’t matter if you’re being told to get up, you still did it. Be proud of the little things you do. Myself, I try to be proud of showering, or brushing my teeth. I think you should go to your parents. A good parent should always be stronger than you. Doesn’t matter if they have problems, it is their role to help their child. My parents do not understand mental issues and could never be there for me. So if that is your situation find a therapist. Keep practicing those kinds of things.

Now my next suggestion is to find some alone time to be productive like meditation. Think of how to put all your problems on a truck, let the truck drive away with your problems. For better try the workbook “Get Out Of Your Mind and Into Your Life.” It has helped many people, I am going through it and it helps you if you take it serious. It goes by the ACT program, you can google that and try to find ways and tricks.

Another thing that has helped me relax and put my mind at rest is Binaural Beats. Find a good one, if you have an Android phone, there are a few good Apps for this, good beats will help you but cost about $15 dollars and up. If you choose to meditate/relax this way use a beat that uses Delta. When I do this it’s when I go to bed, makes sure you use good headphones and have the proper phones into the correct ears. What it does is balance the brainwaves. I get really detailed dreams when I do this, and I do feel healthier. Also fish oil and vitamin B-12.

If you let this control you, it could easily get deeper and harder to come out of. If you want to talk email me. I’ll be more than happy to help. But I will say this… I still struggle every day. Medications can help, but practicing helpful therapy will get you somewhere fast with medication.
